- SANGLI: An iftar party hosted by a Muslim organization here on Sunday helped usher in peace between two senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders.
Two days ago, NCP supremo and federal Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar had slammed the two senior ministers -- Home Minister R.R. Patil and Rural Development Minister Jayant Patil -- both hailing from Sangli asking them to fall in line with party discipline and end the infighting.
There was jubilation among NCP party workers when both the warring Patils offered each other dates at iftar and embraced each other marking a truce.
Before proceeding for the iftar party, both the ministers first met and talked at the government guest house and then drove together in the home minister's car to the party.
Meanwhile, in an attempt to cool tempers between the leaders of the Congress and NCP on some issues the NCP supremo asked his party workers and leaders to work out an alliance with the Congress for the coming local body polls.
