Ambassador Antonio P. Villamor told Arab News on Thursday that a Filipino man was arrested after he offered to help a runaway Filipino maid.  “Without his knowledge, the woman OFW was being followed by local authorities,” he said. 

According to the ambassador the authorities demanded proof of legal residence of everyone in the flat, and left with the maid after they were satisfied that everyone else was not in violation of the law.

Villamor said any OFW who is seeking assistance from the embassy should call any of the following numbers: 482-3559, 480-1918, 482-4354, 482-1802, 482-3615, 482-1577 and 482-0507. Each number should be preceded by the 01 city code for Riyadh.
