“These events will be held in 40 different locations from Sept. 10 to Sept. 12,” said Soliman Al-Buthi, a spokesman of the Riyadh Municipality on Saturday. Al-Buthi said the events, which include a large number of folk shows, traditional and performing arts skits, poetry recitations and fireworks, are organized in cooperation with several government agencies and private companies.

He said a special Eid celebration would be organized for women at the main hall of the Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman University. The spokesman said that an executive panel for Eid celebrations had been composed to oversee the preparations this year. Al-Buthi pointed out that about 500 small and large parks in the capital city have been decorated to receive guests.

“Eid celebrations in the city will also include a number of new activities and events this year, including a series of pleasant surprises for Saudis and residents,” he added. He said that the fireworks would be displayed from six different sites including King Fahd International Stadium, Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium, Prince Sultan University and east of King Abdulaziz Manakh Garden.

The firework displays will simultaneously begin at 10 p.m. at all six locations during the three days of celebrations. Al-Buthi said the Saudi Aviation Club’s six-member team would take part in the three-day remote-control airplanes show at Eastern Riyadh Park in Al-Qadisiya district.

He said that Prince Faisal Stadium in Riyadh would host a number of interesting sporting events including folklore shows and expatriate events, fire games and modified cars shows.

The pavilion near the East Ring Road will provide a vast array of activities for families. North Riyadh will also host a number of events, games, folk shows, mimicry, game shows, animation, entertainment and competitions, in addition to the daily raffle prizes, according to the program chart.

A special festival for children will also be held in the city that includes several events including plays by Arab Gulf Children’s Theater, acrobatics, mock actions, drawings, mobile toys and walls for drawing and creativity. King Abdul Aziz Manakh Park will host a variety of events for families and children like a folk theater and a bazaar.
