According to a report in Sunday’s Shams Arabic daily, the Ethiopian — unable to rent a wedding hall because of his lack of legal status — arranged a wedding celebration amid the tents, cushions and cooking stoves of the encampment beneath the Sitteen bridge.

The man said he planned the occasion to also celebrate the arrival of his wife, whom he legally married back home three years ago but could not afford the wedding celebration until now. He paid SR2,300 to host the event and said he would be going on a honeymoon with his wife to an undisclosed location.
