- JEDDAH: The recent decision by the Jeddah Municipality to allow landlords to build an extra floor on their existing structures has upset many homeowners who feel people will now be able to peer into their homes.
As a result, one Saudi businessman spent SR120 million (around $32 million) buying homes around his mansion to ensure his neighbors do not build additional floors, Al-Yaum newspaper reported. The man purchased the homes when he learned that they had received permission to build an additional floor.
Although the man could afford to build a bigger and better mansion some place else, he decided to buy buildings in his neighborhood and rent them out to ensure his privacy is not compromised.
