- SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina: Authorities in Bosnia say they have arrested about 60 people, including 22 police officers, suspected of organized crime and smuggling cigarettes and luxury goods.
A statement from the State Prosecutor's office released Wednesday says about 200 police officers were conducting scores of raids, mostly in the south of the country.
Police say the organized crime ring was smuggling cigarettes from Montenegro to Bosnia, Croatia and Germany.
It says it has been monitoring the group for months.
Bosnia is eager to move away from its image of a postwar country unable to deal with corruption and crime. It is seeking EU membership and has increased the fight against crime in the past decade.
