The council unanimously decided to boost agriculture in drought-stricken Saudi regions. The decision was taken when the annual report of the Agricultural Development Fund was tabled in the house. 

"While making the recommendation, the members of the council felt that in order to achieve the agricultural production target, the Agricultural Development Fund should harness the resources available from agricultural societies and marketing companies based in the Kingdom," Shoura Council Secretary-General Muhammad Al-Ghamdi said following the council's session.

Realizing the impact of drought, the house recommended that the Agricultural Development Fund should open its offices in the provinces of Baha, Najran and the Northern Frontier to provide necessary assistance to the farmers.

Ghamdi said such assistance would reduce the cost of production and would benefit both cultivators and consumers.

In other Shoura news, the house also approved a draft recommendation from its Cultural Affairs Committee to expand its areas of cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia to deepen cultural relations.

The house also agreed to go ahead with a Memorandum of Understanding on avoidance of double taxation between the Kingdom and Ethiopia.

Then the house approved a recommendation to have a non-resident ambassador in San Marino.
