Nazir was briefed on Thursday about preparations made so far for the event by Shadi Badawood, supervisor of a cultural and social program called “Saudis.”

Badawood said the celebrations will portray a contemporary picture of the Kingdom, including cultural, social, economic and architectural diversities in the country, the role being played by Saudi women, efforts being made by the Kingdom to boost international peace and security, and the country’s economic progress. “The program is an untraditional idea to bring all Saudi students in Australia together to present a truthful picture about their country on the occasion of its National Day,” he said, adding that a number of Australian parliamentarians, academics and officials will attend the celebrations.

Badawood said information about the Kingdom’s history and cultural and social heritage will be provided during the event, in addition to its current economic and industrial development. Attendees will be entertained with folk dances from the Kingdom’s various regions.

The “Saudis” program is being supported by a number of government and private organizations including the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Aramco, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology, and the Saudi Food and Drugs Authority.
