“Police investigators arrived on the scene after receiving a call from the victim. Police personnel took his statement and conducted a wide search of the area, which resulted in one of the alleged perpetrators being captured,” said Jeddah police spokesman Col. Misfer Al-Juaid.

“At the police station he said he was unemployed, and admitted stealing the cash deposit box from the shop.” Al-Juaid added that the person also identified where his two accomplices were. They were arrested a few hours later. If convicted, all three will face a jail sentence.

Meanwhile, a man was arrested in the Kandarah district for writing a fraudulent check worth SR750,000 to a local business owner to pay off a debt he owed. “When the victim went to the bank to cash the check, he was told that it had bounced. He contacted police immediately, who arrested the man,” said Al-Juaid. “People can’t just trust checks at face value, they have to be verified by the bank. Those who write checks without having the balance to cover it face prosecution.”

Police have also arrested a Saudi man in his 30s in Balad for stealing a laptop and a citation book belonging to the Jeddah municipality.

The person is currently in custody at Al-Balad jail, where he could face prison if convicted.
