- UNAIZAH: Worshippers in this city in the central Saudi province of Qassim were surprised to see penalty notices on their cars after they finished Friday prayers last week, Al-Jazirah reported.
All fines were for parking the wrong way and blocking the road. The worshippers said that the traffic police have no right to give them tickets because there was enough parking available outside the mosque.
They claim that on Friday traffic is blocked only for one hour until prayers are finished. Traffic Department replied by saying that parking correctly is the first lesson given to anyone applying for a driving license.
They said that there was no excuse to block the roads and park the wrong way, even for Friday prayers. The traffic department promised to continue punishing such violators.
