- TAIF: Police arrested a young Saudi man who drove off after hitting a police officer with his car in front of the Al-Abbas Mosque in Taif’s Balad district.
Having parked his car in a non-parking area near the mosque, the man was asked by the traffic officer to move it to a different area. The man refused and entered the mosque ignoring the policeman. On his return, the policeman asked him to show his ID at which he began abusing him.
Despite the policeman's attempt to stop him, the man got into his car and drove off. The policeman was also hit and sustained multiple injuries. He was then admitted to King Faisal Hospital in Taif. Police later arrested the man.
Col. Muhammad Al-Shanbari, media spokesman of Taif traffic police, told Arab News that the policeman had been discharged from the hospital and that his condition is stable. He added that a police investigation is currently underway.
