Police officers spoke to the father for a considerable time explaining to him the harms of beating his daughter and that she suffers from a psychological problem and should be treated properly. During questioning, the girl told police that she accidentally dropped her younger brother who fell unconscious and that she then ran away fearing her father’s reaction. She also said that her father often beats her up for trivial reasons. Police launched an eight-hour search for the girl after she was reported missing from the family’s home in Al-Majed district of Taif. An undercover police unit spotted the girl leaving a pharmacy and followed her entering the women’s section of a local mosque.
