“The fine will also be applicable to airport staff members, employees working inside the airport, and those whose nature of job requires their presence inside the airport if they were found violating the no-smoking policy,” said King Abdulaziz International Airport Director General Mazen Khashoggi.

"There will be zero tolerance for those who violate the ban on smoking, no matter who they are, and we hope that all airport personnel will act as role models to others by not smoking and violating our no-smoking policy,” he said. “This decision reinforces the commitment of the KAIA to achieve the highest quality of service. It is part of the airport’s continuous improvement to achieve international standards in air environment,” said Khashoggi.

Fines will go to a fund of the Health Ministry that is used to fund anti-smoking programs and help in its efforts to combat smoking.
