The camels, purchased at the rate of SR4 million each, will participate in the upcoming King Abdul Aziz Contest for Best Camels. The camels were bought from Fanjal Al-Shaibani who won prizes for best camels at the contest last year.

The highest deal of the season was clinched last week when Ibrahim Al-Muhailib bought 10 camels at SR50 million from Omair bin Fahd Al-Qahtani at SR 5 million each.

The beauty contest, which is held under the aegis of the Chairman of the Allegiance Committee Prince Mishaal, is considered the largest camel contest in the Middle East.

Prizes are worth SR40 million and 300 cars are also distributed to owners of winning camels. There are various items of competitions while the camels participate in contests in groups with 30 to 100 camels. There is also competition for the best single camel.

The Umm Raqiba market, 160 km to the west of Hafr Batin in the Eastern Province, is the most popular camel market in the Kingdom. The town and its nearby areas are the major centers of breeding original strains of Arabian camels.
