Boyle’s latest album “The Gift” debuted at No. 1 two weeks ago after selling 318,000 copies; she enjoyed a second week at the top before slipping to No. 3 on the most recent chart, behind new champ Kanye West and rookie rapper Nicki Minaj.

Industry sources suggest that neither of the two biggest new releases this week — the Black Eyed Peas’ “The Beginning” and the “Glee” cast’s “Music, Volume 4” — poses much of a threat to Boyle. Prognosticators project first-week sales of 100,000 to 125,000 units each for the Peas and “Glee.” For the Peas, that’s off quite a bit from the arrival of their last album, “The E.North Dakota,” which gave the quartet its first No. 1 last year with a 304,000-unit start according to Nielsen SoundScan.
