The decision was made during a session on Monday, chaired by judge Tariq Al-Saif and attended by both the Commission member and his accuser, Atta Allah Al-Rasheedi, 33. Court sources said the brother of the Commission member offered to settle the matter out of court, but Al-Rasheedi refused.

During the hearing, the court heard the testimony of two security guards. One of them denied that he had seen the Commission member and Al-Rasheedi fight, but said that he had asked Al-Rasheedi and those who he was with to leave the market before the incident. The second security guard denied seeing the Commission member on the ground after being hit on the nose, but said he did see Al-Rasheedi bleeding.

The sources said the court is awaiting a medical report from Hail General Hospital, and that it has already received two similar reports from King Khaled Hospital in Hail.

Al-Rasheedi, the court also heard that, underwent surgery in hospital to stop bleeding after being stabbed. He said he was shopping in Barazan market with his wife, her brother and sisters when the Commission member obstructed their way and asked them to leave. He said that this led to a fistfight during which the Commission member took out a knife and stabbed him. The case was referred by Hail police to the Prosecution and Investigation Commission, which has completed its investigations and handed the case to the summary court in Hail.
