Prince Faisal bin Salman, chairman of the executive committee of the Charitable Society for the Care of Orphans (Insan), who officiated the function, said another meeting would be held next year to raise funds for completing the project.

The meeting at the residence of Hamoud Al-Badr, secretary-general of Insan, in Riyadh on Saturday was attended by Khaled Al-Muqrin, president of Majmaa University, Muhammad Al-Hussein, chief administrative officer of Zulfi, and other prominent personalities.

In his welcoming speech, Fahd Al-Mulhem thanked Riyadh Gov. Prince Salman, chairman of the society, for his support to Insan projects. He said the society is currently taking care of 33,800 orphans. He also praised Prince Faisal bin Salman for his support.

The society's branch in Zulfi, which opened two years ago, looks after 970 orphans and widows. "Since the opening of the branch we have spent about SR9 million to meet its expenditures," Al-Mulhem said, adding that the branch's revenue stand at SR7 million.

"Apart from food and clothing, the society provides its members with education, health care and training," he said.

Speaking about the endowment property, Muhammad Al-Hamd said it would be completed shortly with the support of people of Zulfi.

Al-Hussein praised businessmen for their support to developmental and charitable activities in the city. Poet Saad Al-Awad described Insan as a model for charitable work in the Kingdom.

Esmat Eissa, a member of the organization's resource development committee, spoke about the society's 10-year strategy to establish endowments to meet 50 percent of its total expenditures.

Insan Tower in Riyadh has been rented to Saudi Electricity Company while Prince Sultan endowment in Alkharj to Alkharj University.

"We have another endowment property in Alkharj which will be finished shortly in addition to the Insan village project," Eissa said. He disclosed plans to establish an endowment project in every city in the Riyadh province, where Insan has a branch.

He said the endowment property in Zulfi would have two towers; one for a hotel and another for offices. We have reached preliminary agreements with Boudl Hotels and Majmaa University to rent the two towers. The 11-story building will cost about SR40 million.
