Sources close to the families of Cruz and Bardem — members of the select group of Hollywood couples who have both won Oscars - confirmed the birth of Cruz’s first child to Spanish newspaper El Pais, but did not say if it was a boy or a girl.

No one at Cruz’s public relations agency Kuranda was available to confirm the reports.

Bardem — who was named on Tuesday as a candidate for a second Oscar for his role in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s film “Biutiful” — was present at the birth in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, El Pais said.

Bardem, 41, won an Oscar for best supporting role in the Coen brother’s 2008 film “No Country for Old Men,” while Cruz, 36, was awarded hers in 2009 for her role in Woody Allen’s “Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona.”

The couple have known each other for 20 years but rumors of their relationship arose during the filming of “Vicky, Cristina Barcelona,” in which Bardem also performed.
