The Red Crescent rushed Ibañez, 22, to King Fahd Hospital where she died a few hours later. In a report to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Manila, the Philippine Embassy said an initial investigation showed that Ibañez had knife wounds on her neck, abdomen and wrist as well as acid burns in her mouth, arms and legs.

“I called Philippine Ambassador-designate Ezzedin H. Tago to ask about the status of the case of Ibañez. He said that a lawyer had been handling her case. He also said that a police report had been issued. If that’s the case, why have no charges been filed against the suspect or suspects?” said John Leonard Monterona, Migrante Middle East regional coordinator.

He said he was told that the embassy and the Office of Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs were coordinating with the family of Ibañez in Kidapawan, North Cotabato.

But Monterona claims the family has been pleading with his organization to help in repatriating the body, which has lingered in a morgue since the woman’s death.
