- Nina Ricci, the legendary French couture and fashion house opened the doors to its Middle East flagship in Dubai Mall.
- Located in Fashion Avenue, this 120 square meter boutique is the first one in the world to unveil the new global retail concept for the brand.
Inspired by Parisian ‘bourgeois’ apartments of the 1940s, the boutique exudes an air of romance and quiet warmth. “We wanted to bring a very obvious Parisian style to the interiors and create the look of an apartment with a comfortable, intimate feel. The essential brand codes: elegance, sophistication, femininity and timeless spirit have been creatively interpreted to craft the store environment” said Peter Copping, Artistic Director of Nina Ricci.
An enfilade design connects the entrance hall with the inner ‘living room’ via an archway with sliding doors that allows cordoning off and privatizing the space should a guest so desire. The spaces within the boutique are carefully cocooned through the use of heavy beige silk curtains and a homely touch of comfort is created by sofas, silk rugs and low chairs. The Middle East customer’s need for discretion has been taken into special consideration, particularly in the design of the changing rooms which are spacious and private, allowing the clients to immerse in a chic Parisian world.
Concealed cornice lighting creates a gentle wash of warm light while the wall lamps on the pilasters, the spectacular centerpiece chandelier and vintage floor lamps heighten the drama with accent lighting. The brand’s signature colour palette of powdery grey mattes add gentle texture and reinforce the feminine feel of the boutique.
The 18th century style decorative wall frames in rechampi finish, grey parquet flooring in herringbone pattern, full-length old mercury mirrors and vintage furniture enhance the overall retro feel. The “torsade” motif, a hallmark of the brand, is used as a discreet theme to tie all the elements together.
The Spring-Summer collection elegantly hangs on a line of metal rails with distressed gold finish while the small leather goods and jewellery are showcased in 1940s style display cabinets with slender metal frames in gold hammered finish, suspended glass covers and galuchat leather-lined trays. The accessories are presented against wall panels in verre églomisé (glass with a matte gold leaf backing) which magically changes tint from champagne to deeper amber depending on the accessory displayed.
A perfect tribute to the timeless beauty of Nina Ricci, the brand’s new home in Dubai is all set to woo the fashion elite of the Middle East in more ways than one.
