"You can put the question (about women's driving) to the lawmakers," Al-Ajlan told media persons who asked him if the new traffic regulations had any provision about women's driving shortly after he opened a meeting of the directors of traffic department at the headquarters of the public security in Riyadh.

Al-Ajlan was asked this question following the arrest of Saudi women Manal Al-Sharif in Eastern Province on Sunday. Al-Sharif courted arrest after uploading a video on YouTube in which talked about the challenge of having to rely on drivers.

Al-Ajlan, while refusing to comment on this issue, said that he would not discuss any issue not included in the topics of the meeting of the traffic department directors.
