- TAIF: New details emerged when the suspect in the murder of the four-year-old child, Ahmad, in Taif was taken to the crime scene for a re-enactment of the crime, Al-Watan newspaper reported on Friday.
According to sources, the alleged murderer, the stepmother of the child, showed no emotions or any signs of regret while describing to the police how she killed the child. She was very calm throughout the questioning.
With the autopsy report showing extensive wounds to the private area of the young child, possibly due to heavy beating, police sought an explanation on this issue from the suspect.
She said that she had taken off the clothes of the child inside the bathroom and beat him up with a wooden stick in and around the sensitive parts of his body.
The police report, which was based on the stepmother’s statements, said as the stepmother lifted the child, he urinated on her because of fear. She then threw him down hard to the ground. The child began crying loudly with blood coming out from his nose and mouth. Other children in the house and the maid too started crying.
The stepmother then dressed the boy in the dress she described later to police as the one the boy was wearing when he was kidnapped, the report said.
(Following the disappearance of the child, the stepmother had claimed the boy was kidnapped.)
According to the police report, the woman then wrapped the child in a sheet and placed him in one of the rooms inside the house. She continued to check on him from time to time until he died. The next day, she took the body to the abandoned building and kept it there before raising the kidnap alert.
Al-Watan visited the apartment where the stepmother allegedly committed the crime. Most neighbors were not aware of the crime. Some had left for their summer vacations. Others refused to talk about the case to Al-Watan.
Police released the body of the boy for burial late Monday after concluding the investigations.
The stepmother had confessed her crime to police on June 29.
The boy’s father had earlier told Arab News that he wanted the death penalty for his wife if she was found guilty.
The woman had told the police during initial questioning that Ahmad became unconscious after she beat him and she took him to a nearby clinic, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
