- SRINAGAR: The Indian Army said it has killed at least three suspected rebels in a raid in the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir.
Lt. Col. J.S. Brar said at least three soldiers were wounded Friday in an exchange of gunfire with the suspected insurgents in Maidanpora village in the Indian portion of Kashmir. He said another two suspected rebels are holed up in a house and the fighting continues.
There has been no statement about the events from rebel groups fighting for Kashmir's independence from India or its merger with Pakistan.
