Parker, voted as a starter for the West in fan balloting, is sidelined by a knee injury and not expected to return to the Sparks’ lineup until next month.

The 19-year-old Cambage, who is averaging 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds, was selected by WNBA president Laurel Richie on Wednesday.

Cambage, the second overall pick in this year’s draft, is one of a record 11 players making their first All-Star appearances — topping the nine in 2000. She is also the fourth rookie, joining Minnesota’s Maya Moore, San Antonio’s Danielle Adams and Chicago’s Courtney Vandersloot.
