- NEW YORK: Fabio Cannavaro and Brian McBride have been included in the New York Cosmos squad for the Aug.
- 5 friendly against Manchester United, which will have Paul Scholes in its team for the last time to end the midfielder’s 17-year career at the club.
The recently reformed Cosmos will be coached by former Man United star Eric Cantona in becoming the first American team to play at Old Trafford.
Former US goalkeeper Brad Friedel was also selected, along with former Manchester United stalwart Gary Neville and French World Cup champion Patrick Vieira.
Man United is not expected to field many regulars because the team will play Manchester City on Aug. 7 in the Community Shield.
The Cosmos are trying to join Major League Soccer.
