- MIAMI: Dora has weakened to a tropical storm from a Category 1 hurricane as it moves northwest in the Pacific off Mexico.
The US National Hurricane Center in Miami said Dora’s top sustained winds dropped Friday evening to 70 mph (113 kph).
Dora was moving northwest at near 8 mph (13 kph), and it was expected to move parallel to the west coast of southern Baja, California A tropical storm warning remained in effect for Mexico from Agua Blanca to Buenavista including resort-dotted Cabo San Lucas.
Dora’s center was about 175 miles (283 kilometers) south/southwest of Cabo San Lucas. Large swells will affect the coast. It is expected to weaken to a tropical depression by Sunday.
