- I used to have the impression that dead people received better treatment at hospitals than the living.
- I was surprised to read a report in a local newspaper about overcrowded hospital morgues in Jazan.
Some of the 223 bodies inside have been there for three years. The reason is that certain related departments insist on conducting autopsies on them, which results in keeping them at the morgue for a long time. Sometimes, two bodies are kept in one place.
Some of the bodies are decomposed and their features have disappeared. The report stated that the same problem existed at hospitals in Hail, Asir, Jeddah and Makkah. In other words, it exists all over the Kingdom.
I do not know why the Ministry of Health has not found any way yet to increase the capacity of morgues at hospitals. Many of these bodies have started to smell.
They threaten the sick people at the hospitals. An official from the municipal department in charge of bodies stated in an interview in a local daily that the situation at his department was normal, and that he was not facing any trouble. In fact, he said that the only problem he faced was keeping the records of the dead people. No comments.
