Seventh-seeded Pervak was playing her first career WTA tour final and despite the defeat is expected to break into the top 50 when the new rankings are published Monday.

Zvonareva made a perfect start with a break in the opening game. Pervak then received attention to a right toe injury after conceding another break at 2-0. She got on the scoreboard at 4-1, but two straight double-faults handed Zvonareva a third break and the set.

The second was more competitive. A break for 3-1 put the top-seeded Zvonareva in control, but Pervak recovered the break in the seventh, dropped her own, then broke back once more.
