BJP leader Eknath Khadse, who is also the leader of the opposition in the assembly, criticized the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led Democratic Front government for having failed on all fronts.

Khadse attacked Chavan’s government for the recent serial bomb blasts in Mumbai and the failure of the investigating agencies to arrest those responsible for the attacks. “The Congress-NCP government has failed on all fronts, there is no coordination between the ministers and there is no concern over the issues concerning the people,” Khadse said.

To a question whether the opposition would seek the resignation of Home Minister R.R. Patil over the bomb blasts, Khadse said it was necessary for the entire government to resign instead of one minister.

“The chief minister must use his powers, otherwise a picture of the chief minister being weak will be created. Khadse said while commenting about the bickering between the allies over Chavan’s remarks on power-sharing.

Shiv Sena group leader in the assembly Subash Desai said the incumbent government was the “most useless government so far” and warned they would not tolerate any move to encroach on religious practices through the Black Magic Prohibition Bill.
