- JOHN’S, Antigua: Attorneys have finished closing arguments in the murder trial of two Antiguan men accused of killing a British couple on their honeymoon.
Avie Howell and Kaniel Martin have pleaded not guilty to shooting Welsh couple Catherine and Benjamin Mullany in a vacation cottage on the last day of their two-week honeymoon in July 2008.
The defendants also are accused in this case of shooting a Jamaican shopkeeper during an alleged crime spree.
An attorney for Martin tried to cast doubt on witnesses Monday, saying there was no physical evidence connecting the 23-year-old to the slayings. Other attorneys wrapped up their arguments last week.
On Tuesday, Justice Richard Floyd will give instructions to the jury of eight women and four men.
