- RIYADH: A delegation of Indian journalists working for Urdu language newspapers and TV channels in India will visit Saudi Arabia soon to familiarize themselves with the culture and heritage of the country.
- The visit will also give an impetus to the growing relations between the Kingdom and India, a major South Asian nation where about 100 million people speak Urdu, a central Indo-Aryan language.
Abdul Rahman Saleem, president of Riyadh-based social and cultural organizations Bazm-e-Ittehad and Hindustani Bazm-e-Urdu (HBU), disclosed this information in Riyadh Saturday night. Saleem was speaking during a farewell function organized in honor of Indian community leader Mohammed Abdulrahim Akram, who is leaving on final exit after working in the Kingdom for more than 30 years.
The event at the local Al-Khayyam Restaurant was attended by a number of community leaders and guests, including Abdul Hameed, Shameem Khan, and Salem Zubedi.
