On Tuesday, VHP leader Ashok Singhal openly came out in Hazare's planned protest in New Delhi on Aug. 16.

Hazare said that he had received tremendous support for his agitation not only from the VHP but several other social and political organizations.

Hazare will be taken in a procession on Wednesday in the city and then he would speak at a rally on the government's attempt to dilute the anti-graft bill. More than half a million people are expected to attend it the rally.

Hazare and his team claimed over whelming supports for its draft of the anti-corruption Lokpal Bill in a so-called "referendum" that it conducted in an area of the national capital. Hazare claims more than 85 percent of those who participated in the "referendum" want the prime minister to be brought under the Lokpal purview.

Hazare claimed that his group unveiled the "result" of the "referendum" in the Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency in Delhi which is represented by the Human Resource Minister Kapil Sibal, and 85 percent people gave support to the Lokpal Bill that his group had drafted and rejected the one that the government plans to introduce in the Parliament.

Hazare said, "The verdict is out. The so-called representatives have failed to represent the people. The electorate of Sibal's constituency has come out strongly against the provisions of the Lokpal Bill approved by the Cabinet," this speaks about the mindset of the people against the government.

Armed with the results, Hazare and his team launched an attack on the government and wondered whether the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh too was "telling lies" like many others in his Cabinet. Singh's defense of his Cabinet decision to keep the Prime Minister outside the purview of the Lokpal Bill was extremely unfortunate, Hazare said.

Hazare said, "Till now, people of this country, including me, were of the opinion that we had an honest prime minister. But if he is defending this decision, it is unfortunate. Many people in this government are telling lies. If the prime minister also tells lies then what will happen," Hazare asked.
