Forty-five-year-old Michele Kalina pleaded guilty to one-count of third-degree murder in a Reading courtroom Thursday. She also pleaded guilty to abuse of a corpse and concealing the death of a child.

The defense says Kalina was abused by her father as a child.

The hearing comes a year after her teen daughter found the remains in a locked closet.

Authorities say DNA tests show most, if not all, of the five babies were conceived through a longtime affair with a co-worker. Neither he nor Kalina’s husband knew about the pregnancies.
