A pilferer, who made the rounds of the mosque exclusively to enrich himself but not his soul, was caught recently, ending his days as a prowler.

After repeated complaints from worshippers of missing mobile microphones, transmitters, water cartons and paper napkins that they brought to the mosque, the imam took matters into his own hands to set things right, Arabic daily Okaz reported on Tuesday.

The imam fixed hidden cameras in the mosque at strategic locations and when the thief went to work while others were deep in prayer the lens took clear shots of the thief’s unholy acts. The imam then presented the set of photos to the police to clear the picture.

Police arrested the thief, who is reported to be a 38-year-old African and a resident of the district. Spokesman of Jeddah police Misfir Al-Juaid commended the work of the imam and asked people to use video cameras to reveal such incidents. So beware, and be good or you could be on candid camera…
