- MAKKAH: A Makkah candidate for the upcoming municipal elections offered to give a local newspaper some sheep and sacks of barley as payment for an advertisement, Al-Madinah newspaper reported Thursday.
Another candidate reportedly sent text messages to voters in his constituency making big promises that would take the Kingdom into the developed world.
A third candidate pulled out of the race saying he was only joking when he registered his name to run for the elections. “I was only joking. I was not serious. I never planned for this,” he said.
