- RIYADH: Brig.
- Abdul Aziz Abuhaimed, director of the traffic in Riyadh, said his department would deploy 700 officers in the city to control traffic on the main roads during the National Day.
He said the department would also deploy 400 patrol police officers and plainclothes policemen in various parts of the city to ensure smooth flow of traffic and monitor traffic violators.
He said the department has banned processions of vehicles that would cause traffic jams as well as the use of motorbikes. “We’ll not allow any activity that would cause traffic bottlenecks,” he said.
Brig. Saleh Al-Osaimi, another senior officer in the department, said the deployment of extra officers in the city during the National Day celebrations would help ensure smooth flow of traffic.
He called upon drivers to cooperate with the traffic police by following their instructions and respecting the rights of other road users.
