The trip featured several cultural and entertaining programs for the orphans, who were accompanied by supervisors from the Ministry of Social Affairs and one from ALJCI.

Through the various programs and activities, the students found out more about diverse cultures of Singapore.

They visited the Sultani Mosque, Indian and Chinese neighborhoods, and the National Museum. They enjoyed their visit to the zoo, a safari journey, the international cinema studios, Santos Island, the teleferic, Dolphin Zoo, Underwater World and shopping at famous malls. Taha Abdul Karim, a student who went on the trip, said such excursions are an incentive for him and other orphan students to demonstrate top academic performance.

Mohammed Al-Harbi, director of the orphan department at the Ministry of Social Affairs, said: “The trip has achieved its goals and spread happiness and pleasure among orphans. I take this opportunity to thank ALJCI for this noble initiative, and pray to Allah for continuous cooperation between government authorities and the private sector for the benefit of orphans.”

Abdullah Abu Anza, the supervisor from ALJCI who accompanied the students, said the organization and the ministry had chosen Singapore because it is a country with diverse cultures that teaches its citizens how to respect others, be organized and care for the environment. Undoubtedly, he added, this is a cornerstone in the teachings of Islam.

ALJCI coordinates with the Ministry of Social Affairs to organize this annual trip.
