Officers notified all provincial police headquarters in the Kingdom to see if any child had been reported missing or kidnapped.

“We haven’t any clue who the parents are nor have we received any complaint about missing babies of this age,” spokesman for Madinah police Brig. Fahd Al-Ghanam said on Monday.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Saeedi, director of the Health Affairs Department in Yanbu, said the baby’s health was satisfactory except for a slight cold. He said this was probably because she was continuously crying. He added she was receiving full medical attention in the hospital.

“If no one claims her, the hospital will send her to the Total Rehabilitation Center in Yanbu as required by law,” Al-Saeedi said.

He added that the center would try to find a willing family to adopt the child, who is believed to be around one-year-old.

Al-Madinah daily reported on Tuesday that hospital nurses caring for the baby would comb her hair, wash her and change her clothes frequently.

The child is too young to speak clearly and is not capable of answering questions.
