According to Riyadh police, the two hunters, who were 55 and 65, lost their way in the desert after their car battery went flat. The two hunters left their homes on Sept. 26 for the desert to hunt migrating birds but did not come back.

Spokesman of the Riyadh Civil Defense Capt. Muhammad Al-Tamimi said 12 teams assisted by helicopters, security patrols from Riyadh police and a number of volunteer citizens went out in search of the missing hunters.

He said the body of the younger hunter was found near the car while the body of the other was found later in a remote place.

The spokesman said their families only reported them missing eight days later. The families told police that the two hunters used to go out regularly to the desert for days to hunt birds.

Al-Tamimi said a young Saudi died in the desert and two others close to death were rescued about a month ago. He warned people traveling through the desert to be careful and to take all necessary precautions.
