- JEDDAH: About 35 percent of participants in an online survey launched by the Jeddah municipality said they were dissatisfied with the work of the municipality's women staff supervising trade activities.
About 45 percent of those who answered said they had no knowledge of the work of the women market supervisors while nine percent said their work was satisfactory. Only 11 percent of the participants in the survey, which is still ongoing, said they were satisfied.
Vice Mayor for Women's Affairs Arwa Al-Aama said the municipality established a special department for women in 2007 to supervise women-only shops in the city. The department is made up of three divisions: administration, customer service and supervisors.
There are more than 1,500 shops run by women in Jeddah and the supervisors inspect 30-40 shops every day to ensure that they comply with the regulations.
