Administrative supervisor of the chair Saeed Al-Malki confirmed this after he briefed Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal on the achievements and plans of the chair at the governor’s office in Jeddah on Tuesday. Rector of King Abdul Aziz University Osama Taib was also present at the occasion.

“The dialogues in 2012 will be accompanied by forums, workshops and exhibitions,” Al-Malki said.

The chair has also started working on an encyclopedia on Saudi moderation and agreements have been made with specialized firms for the technical planning of the encyclopedia, he added.

Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal founded the chair with the aim of spreading a culture of moderation among young people at King Abdulaziz University in 2009.

The chair helps researchers, academics and thinkers to make significant contributions in driving deep the concept of moderation in the country and outside.

The past achievements of the chair include preparation of 11 research papers with the participation of nine Saudi universities and two Egyptian universities. More than 1,300 students have benefited from various moderation programs conducted by the chair, he said.

It also participated in a number of media interviews, discussions and other programs, he said.

The chair also translated a book on the Saudi method of moderation from Arabic to English, French and Spanish. It also released documentary films and organized contests focusing on moderation.

“The chair also set up a youth club which has a membership of 200 youths. The club also organizes cultural, intellectual and social activities to spread a culture of moderation among the youth, he said.
