Facebook users setup a page honoring the dead from Wednesday’s match. One football fan commented on the page: “This cannot be possible, no football match should end up like that. This is sad and horrible whoever is behind this should be prosecuted.”

Another posted: “Can someone tell us why the troops didn’t intervene? They were just standing there idly while people were being attacked.”

On the Internet there were no shortages of accusations of who was to blame for the deaths. Several members of the micro blogging website Twitter insisted on pointing to the lack of proper security during the match as the main problem.

“I have mixed feelings of anger, grief and frustration toward what happened at the football game,” one tweeted.

Another tweeted: “I witnessed the whole thing unfold. This is nothing short of madness. It was scary and a chaotic situation. My condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died.”

A YouTube video of the incident garnered hundreds of views. People’s comments on the video included similar expressions of condemnations and shock,

“You can clearly see security personnel standing and watching the riots. Why they aren’t they arresting or stopping the attackers?” one poster said.

“This is not a normal situation. Something is fundamentally wrong and has to be fixed. This is shameful on all of us,” another posted.
