The event, held under the patronage of Princess Hissa Al-Shalan, wife of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, aims at highlighting the achievements of the king in the field of humanitarian work in the Kingdom. The event also intends to support Saudi women in the field of design and development of Saudi heritage. The preparation and organization of Identity was stretched over seven months and will include a film to show the King’s efforts in humanitarian development produced by Iman Younis, a Saudi woman.

The invitation cards have been designed by young Saudi women from Sulaisila Center with a taste of Saudi heritage. The event’s revenue will be distributed among Hissa bint Khalid Center for Social Development, Jeddah Autism Center, Sulaisila Center for Art and Heritage, and Rafif Shelter for Girls. The program will include a competition among Saudi women between the age of 15 and 30 to develop traditional women clothes that varied from one region to another.

The prizes that can be won amount to SR60,000 and will be divided among the first three winners. The event will also showcase different Saudi women products including dresses and accessories and will highlight Saudi folklore.

Fahda bint Saud Al-Saud, president of Al-Faisaliya Women Welfare Society, said at a press conference on Tuesday that “the event highlights the Saudi identity through art workers. We want to market the king’s achievements and also support the young girls as well as to increase financial support to different social centers.”

The center worked on a handmade map of Saudi Arabia that includes the 13 regions and marks historical sights, women clothes and protected areas for animals, said Awatif Karkadan, CEO of Sulaisila Center. She added that the work took four months of research and cooperation with different bodies.
