- JANADRIYAH: The visitors, who have been arriving in droves, have been fascinated by the scenes of an ancient farm showcased in the Janadriyah festival.
- The farm presents live scenes of digging wells, drawing water without the help of pumps, digging small canals to irrigate palm trees.
The scenes are recreated by farm hands experienced in the traditional style of farming. Water is carried in water bags made of sheep skin to homes while livestock are watered in large troughs near the wells. Various tools and utensils used for drawing water and carrying it are also displayed.
Another interesting scene is the method of threshing harvested plants to separate grains from their spikes. The bundles of reaped stalks are stacked in a circular form on stones until they dry. Then cows and donkeys are made to tread on the heap and finally the grains are separated from hay. The farm also showcases how traditional grinders are used and grains pounded in villages, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
