The pavilion of Makkah Province attracted a considerable number of visitors on Wednesday as it displayed how oud oil perfume is produced from agarwood. Ahmed Al-Faik, a perfume maker, explained the various phases of oud perfume making.

Oud oil is produced by mashing agarwood and placing it in distilling pots and covering them with several inches of water. The lid is then closed and the pot is heated until the water boils.

Several distillations will generally occur, with the first producing the highest grade of agarwood oil. These distillations may continue over a week’s time, Al-Faik pointed out.

Festival authorities have made special arrangements for people of special needs. There are at least 27 pathways for these people to help them enjoy the festival along with their family members. Some pavilions, especially that of Makkah, organized special programs for such visitors and gave them small gifts and souvenirs.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah visited his ministry’s pavilion and expressed his delight over the health awareness programs there. The programs focused on family violence, how to keep fit, obesity, home medicine, organ transplant operations, and rights of patients.

The minister signed the visitors’ register of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center at the pavilion.
