NWC made this claim during a presentation to highlight its achievements in the presence of Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf and Water and Electricity Minister Abdullah Al-Hussayen.

Al-Assaf commended NWC’s achievements within a short span as well as its investment program and efforts to transfer advanced technology for the development of the Kingdom’s water and sewage sector.

He praised the company’s efforts to dry the sewage lake east of Nazim in Riyadh and develop the water and sewage networks in Riyadh and Jeddah.

In his statement, Al-Hussayen underscored the important role being played by NWC in the operation and management of the water and sewage sector and improving services to citizens.

“The company has expanded its operations by including Makkah and Taif in the purview of its activities in the beginning of 2011,” the water and electricity minister said. He hoped the company would soon expand its services to other cities.

During the presentation, the company highlighted its economic and service performance during the past years after establishing necessary infrastructure and setting out sustainable and world-class solutions for the challenges.

The company was instrumental in reducing the number of delayed projects from 104 in 2008 to 18. It also reduced the time for giving sewage connections from 180 days in 2008 to 23 days.

Referring to the services in Jeddah, the company said it launched a full-fledged sewage network in the northern and central parts of the city seven months before schedule. NWC has established five sewage water treatment centers in Jeddah with a total capacity of 622,000 cubic meters daily.
