The Al-Mawaddah Charity Society was encouraged to start the special training program after its success in solving family disputes for people with various disabilities with the help of family counselors who had such impairments.

“The move comes as part of the society’s plan to extend its family reconciliation services to all sections of the people,” Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Mawaddah Society Saad Al-Owairadi told Arab News.

He said couples with speech and hearing impairments would be more receptive to counselors with the same disabilities.

He added that Al-Mawaddah succeeded in settling hundreds of family disputes in the past.

The society has been arranging training courses in family counseling to men and women (without disabilities).

The society has also started arranging special programs for disabled youths who are intending to get married, so that they can lead a happily married life.

The objectives of the Al-Mawaddah include preserving the stability of families and bringing down the rate of divorce in Saudi society. It also cooperates with law courts to settle family disputes.
