The exhibition carried the innovative theme of “Throne of Light,” featuring black and white shades and aiming to throw light on the different shades of life’s journey.

The 10-day solo exhibition started on Monday and is open to the public.

The artist in his paintings tried to show how people can fight life’s darkness, which resembles hardships and problems, with hope and faith as represented by white light.

“I gave the title ‘Throne of Light’ to my collection, which includes 21 paintings with different strokes of light and a combination of black and white shades, because I think white light means hope always wins over darkness. This is the message I want to give through my paintings, that we never lose hope and think about good things, because at the end the good will win over the bad if we have faith in Allah and ourselves,” he said.

He added the journey of his collection started in Riyadh at the beginning of 2011 and was an experiment.

“The journey of life goes through many phases, from love to hate, from bad to good, between hope and despair, from the pain of the heart to the pain of the soul,” he said. “Through this experiment I tried to portray the strength of light; how a ray of light can disperse the darkness the same way a ray of hope disbands despair.”

Al-Turki plays with paints since he understands art and the importance of this medium to portray his feelings and emotions.

“I think I spent all my life doing art work and I will continue till the last breath. This is a medium which gives me satisfaction of the heart and a way to speak the language of my heart and mind,” he added.

He explained that he didn’t use any other colors in his collection “Throne of Light” because he wanted to explain to people the strength of white light on darkness and the strength of good over evil.

“Though we have other colors in life, the most important are black and white. As we know, when all the colors collect at one point they turn into white. From white all the colors comes out, and the same is with black. What I want to explain in my paintings is that when the light of hope is present, there is no other color that can take its place. From that white color all the colors of light comes out and spreads in our life, and this is the philosophy of life,” he said.

Famous Saudi artist and sculptor Nabil Tahir said the exhibition is one of its kind and very innovative, as portraying the subject matter is quite difficult.

“It gives me great pleasure to see special work like this. This is an excellent and different type of exhibition where the artist uses only two shades of colors that are also the opposite of each other,” said Abdullah Nawawi, another Saudi artist.
