Al-Harithy said the department was awarded the 38 educational projects costing a total of SR221.5 million and these included 20 projects for boys schools and 18 projects for girls schools. The department is currently implementing 55 projects (35 for boys and 20 for girls) at a total cost of SR436.1 million.

According to Al-Harithy, the number of projects expected to be awarded during the current financial year is 55, including 32 for boys and 23 for girls. He also described the department’s initiative to phase out rented buildings used by schools. “The percentage of schools operating in government-owned buildings would rise to 65 with the completion of the ongoing building projects. Our department has worked out a plan to dispense with rented buildings in a phased manner and this was mainly through the allocation of government land for the construction of school buildings,” he said.
