The final rounds of the Makkah Youth Meet II will start with the participation of 800 boy and girl students in Jeddah on Saturday.

A number of institutions including cultural, sport and tourist establishments will serve as venues for the contests.

“The judges panel consists of professionals and specialists in each category of the competition as required by the bylaws of the contest,” said Al-Khodairy, who is also chairman of the executive committee of the youth meet.

He added judges would also make sure that submissions are original, accurate and not plagiarized.

He said contestants have started arriving in Jeddah from 11 governorates in the province.

Al-Khodairy visited various government departments that are making the preparations for the event yesterday. Bidayah Co. is organizing the meet.

The 800 students including girls will contest 15 events including Holy Qur’an recitations, poetry, innovation, photography, plastic arts, wall painting, football, basketball and table tennis. Competition venues include Jeddah sports stadium, King Abdulaziz University, King Fahd Coastal City, Youth Welfare Presidency Hall, Markaz Abraq Al-Rugama, and a tent on Jeddah’s Corniche.

While declaring the opening of the final rounds, Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal said last week: “The government gives top priority to developing youths, as they are the pillar of the country’s development.”

The prince said all youths in Makkah province are treated alike without any discrimination on the basis of the residential districts where they live.
